Altogether we are a family of 105 members. Our family members have served in various fields like the Army, Navy, Paramilitary, Police, Education and other fields. They have risen to ranks like Major, Captain, Havaldar and occupied prestigious posts like the Headmaster and Sub Inspector. While some of them have excelled in sports and represented at the National level others have made a mark in education and employment and today our clansmen have spread all over the globe. A few individuals have been heading institutions and organizations and some of them have gained recognition in social services and in politics too and few have themselves recognised successful as Entrepreneur.
In the land often referred to as Yelamaale Pommale, a land fragrant with the garland of cardamom pods. There are 12 Kombus i.e, a stretch of land with 12 large divisions which is further divided into 35 provincess situated the Naalaira Naal Naad. This sacred land is the abode of Lord Iggutthappa who bestows peace and prosperity on the entire land of Kodagu.
In the middle of this land lies a village called Sannakki Kolakeri that is blessed by the grace of Povvadi, the village deity. Kundyolanda family is blessed to serve as Ooruthakka.
The people of our clan are looked upon with great reverence in our village. We lead traditional Dudi Kott Paat at the village festivals or in our Mandh. We proudly claim that the Manepaat, a post Putthari practice which is otherwise decadent in many places of Kodagu is still in practice in the family.
As the Karona of the Kundyolanda clan showed great loyalty in vanquishing the enemies of the then Raja of the land , he was granted privileges like Jamma Jahgir, Umbali and Bane lands.
The ancestral home, the Mundhmane of the Kundyolanda clan was built around 320 years ago. In the past, the predecessors of the family had built the Mundhmane using bamboo and sheaves of paddy. Later on, in 1965-66 this was renovated and a tiled structure was built with mud walls with wooden pillars and a ceiling supporting it. However the present generation, has rebuilt the structure of the Mundhmane in 2018 using durable construction materials like tiled floor and painted walls to restore the antiquity by retaining the originality of the Mundh Mane building suitably.
Our Karona trained himself in several lores at Kaaleghaat in Kerala and returned accompanied by Anna Baayi Choundi and Mandanna Moorthi and a special place was conferred to them in the Clan. All these deities along with the Kaimada of the Karona, Naatha and Kuliya are offeres the annual offerings with a great zeal of devotion. It is also ensured that the Ainmane is swept daily and the lamp lit.
